5 Things to do in your garden in January

It is a new year and we all had newyear's resolutions to whip our gardens into shape. So how about committing to a monthly garden activity schedule?  I will be posting some ideas every month to get you started.
  1. Tend to your roses
    - Make sure there is a good mulch around your roses
    - Spray for black spot
  2. Remove dead growth from lavender and daisy plants.
    - Pot up the cuttings for new plants.
  3. Fertilize those plants you want to look especially nice on Valentine's day e.g agapanthas and roses.
  4. Deadhead plants that flowered when you were away.
  5. Prune trees that need it after all the rain we received during December.

  1. Any advice for New Guinea Impatiens? I have mulched, composted, fed with seaweed - they are sitting in a bed of peat moss in their roots... but still look so small - or am I being impatient...? Great Blog by the way, well done...
